Used Books

While you may wish to purchase new books, the MBS textbook buyers make every effort to offer used books when available, which provides you with a 25% savings. Used texts may show some wear and may have marks or highlights; however, there will be no torn or missing pages, no water damage, and the spine will not be broken

Shipping

Texts are normally delivered via UPS Tracking using Ground, Second Day Air, and Next Day Air. When you order by phone or Internet, current UPS shipping charges are quoted based on the weight of the package and where the package is being shipped. When ordering by mail, shipping costs are determined by the number of items. Orders sent to post office box addresses will be shipped via U.S. mail only. Regardless of order or shipping method, texts shipped to California do not incur sales tax.

Returns

100% of the cost of the text will be refunded if the book is returned within two weeks after the course start date or within two weeks of date the textbook was received, whichever is later. New books must be in new condition to receive a full refund. Shipping charges are nonrefundable.

Buyback

Call (800) 325-3252 to determine if your text has buyback value. Have the following information ready: author, title, ISBN, edition, and publisher. All books having resale value will be bought back as used. MBS cannot buy back old editions, out-of-print books, or books that have a new edition pending. Study guides, working papers, audio tapes, reprints, and custom publications have no buyback value. If the book(s) have value, shipping instructions will be given. Allow two to three weeks processing time. Upon receipt of the book(s) at MBS, a check will be sent for the book(s).

UCSB Extension's textbook information e-mail address is ps@els.ucsb.edu. Textbooks are not available for purchase at any of Extension's offices or at the class site unless noted in the catalog. You may be able to find textbooks at www.amazon.com.
When the catalog indicates that the course fee includes the cost of the textbook, Extension will distribute books at the first class session.

Course Materials

Unless the catalog states that materials are included in the course fee, there may be separate charges for course materials. This is especially true when instructors develop their own syllabus instead of requiring a textbook. Often, the syllabus is not in complete form when the course begins. When this happens, students are charged a materials fee at the start of the course and given the materials as they become available. Details on materials charges and where materials are obtained are given by the instructor at the first class session. Fees for materials are nonrefundable.
