Frequently Asked Questions
As
the continuing education division
of the University of California, Santa Barbara, we are open to all
adults who seek professional and personal development. Courses are
offered year-round, with evening and weekend classes designed to fit
into your busy schedule. We have convenient locations in both Santa
Barbara and Ventura counties.
UCSB
Extension’s instructors are
experts in their fields. They are working professionals from the
community who bring real-world experience into the classroom. Our
courses offer the quality education you would expect from the
University of California.
Where is my class? Class
locations listed in this catalog
may change. Unconfirmed class locations will be listed as “Location to
be announced.” Check the UCSB Extension Web site for the most current
information. Final locations may be confirmed as late as the start date
of the course. Location maps can be found at www.extension.ucsb.edu/
I registered for a course, but have not received any confirmation. What should I do?
Occasionally,
you may not get your
course confirmation by mail in time for the course start date. You
should attend the first class meeting even if you have not received
your enrollment confirmation. You might not be on the course list yet,
in which case you will be asked to fill out a form and submit payment
(you will not be charged twice). We will contact you if there is any
problem with your enrollment.
I need to drop out of my course. What do I do? You
should notify UCSB Extension in
writing of your request as soon as possible (e-mail refund requests
to
registrars@els.ucsb.edu).
Students who do not formally withdraw from a course will receive an NP,
NC, or F, depending on the course number and grading option.
A
$25 per course administrative fee is
charged for all refunds except when courses are cancelled,
discontinued, or rescheduled. Refund eligibility is based on the number
of course meetings. See Refund Policies for Tuition Fees for full
details.
Is UCSB Extension credit transferable? Yes,
UCSB Extension credit is
transferable; however, as with any credit, you are urged to verify
acceptability of style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-style:
normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; font-size: 9.5px;
line-height: normal; font-size-adjust: none; font-stretch: normal;
letter-spacing: -0.1px;"
UCSB
Extension credit through
consultation with your own college program advisor. UCSB Extension
credit is based on the quarter system. One quarter unit equals
two-thirds of a semester unit.
Can I enroll in a UCSB undergraduate course? Yes.
You may enroll in UCSB courses
held on campus through the Open Enrollment program. This program lets
you pay for courses on a per unit basis, and earn transferable
units—all without being formally admitted to UCSB. See page 37 for
details.
